Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Canberra

Spilt Milk festival might resemble the muddy hell of Glastonbury festival after a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the ACT on Saturday evening.

Hail was seen in Tuggeranong at about 6:30pm on Saturday as the front moved in over Canberra from the south.

The warning was issued for the southern parts of the ACT as well as the nearby Snowy Mountains.

The ACT State Emergency Service responded to 15 requests for assistance from the storms in Tuggeranong, mainly related to leaking roofs and localised flooding.

Fire & Rescue reminded people to clear out their gutters as they assisted with clean up efforts.

Earlier on Saturday, Canberra had enjoyed temperatures up to 30 degrees with clear sunny skies.
